Caldera Systems ships first Linux desktop product for the Internet - OPENLINUX eDESKTOP 2.4

OREM, UT-March 27, 2000-Caldera Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CALD) tthe "Linux for eBusiness" leader today announced the shipping of OpenLinux eDesktop 2.4. It ships with the Citrix ICA client and is the first Linux high performance desktop platform - and the only Linux product - providing instant Internet access through preconfigured, preinstalled browser plug-ins and ISP phone numbers. OpenLinux eDesktop seamlessly bridges the gap between the LAN and the Internet as both an Internet and network client.

OpenLinux eDesktop includes Webmin-a solution that allows administrators to manage software and configuration from across the aisle or around the world via a Web browser. Webmin increases IS productivity by providing a single tool to manage a variety of machines. eDesktop also includes the third generation of Lizard, Caldera's installation Wizard.

OpenLinux eDesktop not only allows users to access the applications they want-it allows users to create applications. The most recent Java Development Kit from Sun-JDK 1.2.2 is included in eDesktop. Java is the predominant language used in Internet applications. eDesktop also includes Omnis Studio, a visual rapid application development package that allows developers to create applications in a component-based environment.
